Upper Cold River Slide
Very soon after Tropical Storm Irene a crack in the Upper Cold River Road surface was noticed, just west of the Brown Covered Bridge. During the months of November and December Casella Construction repaired the bridge abutments which had been washed out, utilizing the Upper Cold River Road. After the first thaw it was noticed that the crack in the road surface was growing and that the road itself was starting to slide downhill towards the Cold River.
After appealing the FEMA decision that the slide was not a result of TSI, the UCRR is slated to be repaired during the summer of 2014.
